Task 1

http://www.mothersruin.net/liqueurs/images/cultivate.jpg

Leah and I will be creating a promotional video for the Waltham Forest council, Elijah Sobanjo, in partnership with Artillery who participate in creating events and pursuing a company to be known around the Waltham store borough. It is a community centre in which helps involves the community to involve themselves in activities, fairs and event that are organized by them or by another association.

For this promotional video we would be filming a festival that the Waltham Forest council had conducted regarding growing vegetables and fruits around the borough in which holds different event where the community can get involved with during the month of March.

After constant meetings with our client, Ingrid, we had settled down with an idea pitch to how our promotional video would look and what it would contain to the client’s expectations.

The Idea:
To film events from different places within the borough on different days and record and interview some locals, the councillor and the celebrity of master chef on the events and their personal views on the event.

We had considered to visit at least 4 events t1o have more coverage and cut away – also considering availability - when editing enabling to make the video appear fun and interesting.
Since the target audience is towards the community they had asked us to make sure that the footages involves with a range of ethnic and age groups having to be involved with these events to have the audience identify that anyone can be involved with these events no matter what age or ethnicity you are.

We had thought of working with a small team of digital designers, musicians and photographers who would also be involved with the events and use their documents to be in the video such as photos and to be credited for that in the video. For this it’ll appear unique and interesting.
The film is to appear colourful, lively and bright to portray the meaning of community, team work, fun and excitement.

The video is to be approximately 3 minutes long and so would want lots of video coverage and maybe some images to make the video appear vibrant and interesting.
Music wise they would want the music to be relatively sweet and simple than having a cheesy and typical sound track as they would want the pace to be relatively fast to suit the lively and exciting atmospheric appeal they want to portray in 3 minutes.

To make things more imaginative but relatively related they would also like to have some of the graphic images to me in motion and to add in some effects to portray the image such as a bumble bee o have a buzz sound and roam a little around the screen. This way it would appear more unique and different.

Overall, this is to promote the Cultivate Company because they are the key reason to this event and to credit the different centres and businesses who helped out with the events.

Small evaluation

Evaluation for Promotional Video

For the promotional video I had done a range of research relating with the codes and conventions of a promotional video to take to an account for my own promotional video. It had helped me see what is considered and what is needed to be shown for viewers to see that the video is of either a training or promotional. I had done 5 case studies for Sainsbury, 8 commercial indents and adverts and a chosen and inspired indent of my choice and 2 following indents: channel 4 and cartoon network. From doing this research it had helped me with how I would want my indent to appear like e.g. colourful or gloomy. Since I have never made such a video it was a good experience to be working for an actual client, Walthamstow council.

We were asked to make a video for “The Mill”, our client, Ingrid Abreu and the Waltham Forest Council, Elijah Sobanjo. We had a few meetings with her to see what she is looking for and had told us to video a festival that is being held during March, The Waltham Forest Big Dig Festival. I was paired with Leah Simpson and was given a client to work with, The Mill, Cultivate and Walthamstow council who all work s on the festival we had attended.

We had arranged ourselves the days and time we would be able to go and film. Successfully we had filmed the event days we were able to go to, talk to our client regard editing and features for the video to appear as and finally editing the video’s and creating an moving motion ident for both the beginning and ending.

It had took us roughly 3 weeks to edit and complete due to identifying some mistakes within the video and so resembled the issue. We had also spent out 2 week half term to look throw the video and make the changes whilst keeping both our clients up to date on what has changed and what we’re doing.

We have sent drafts of the video and trailer to our client every time we had changed anything and to receive any feedback based on improvements or suggestions to make the video to what they want. After we had finished both pre-production, the promo video and trailer we had successfully satisfied out clients need for the film and have completed everything on time.
